If you are someone that gets pumped up while watching the next big blockbuster trailer just to be disappointed when you find out it is rated “R”? Let me introduce you to ClearPlay, the solution to finding that edited DVD you always wanted to see.

So What Is ClearPlay?

ClearPlay is the technology that lets parents filter violence, sexual content, and profanity from a regular DVD that has been purchased or rented. ClearPlay allows you to watch edited DVDs without physically altering the DVD its self. ClearPlay has a system that allows you to set up to 12 Filters with one of 4 editing levels for each DVD.

How Does it Work?

The process ClearPlay has set up is actually very simple and easy to use, but you have to own their DVD player and have a membership to have access to their filters. When you buy their DVD player it comes with a “Filter Stick” (USB Flash Drive) that you stick in your computer and download their latest filters. You can then go and rent or buy a DVD, and before putting in the DVD inserting your “Filter Stick” in the player so that when you put in the movie the system will recognize the title. You can then decide if you want to watch the movie with or without the filters you’ve preset.

Watching an Edited DVD!

Obviously there are some differences in watching an edited DVD and an unedited DVD. For offensive language they use a muting feature which basically just mutes everything when a “bad word” is said. So it’s not perfect, but neither is any other edited DVD. So if it isn’t a word you wanted to hear, or wanted you children to hear, you’ll live. Plus the actual filtering of scene is pretty seamless and is good quality.

Conclusion

If you are big in to movies but haven’t been able to watch some because your worried about content for you or your children. This is a must buy. It works with pretty much every movies you can think of and it works well, if you know going in that it is an edited DVD.
